When it comes to choosing the right oil seal for a particular application, there are several factors to consider. One of the key aspects is the material used in the construction of the seal. Different materials offer varying levels of resistance to heat, chemicals, and wear, so it is essential to select a seal that can withstand the specific conditions it will be exposed to.
The valve cover gasket plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the engine by preventing oil leaks and maintaining proper lubrication. 2. Oil seal structure and functions
A standard oil seal consists of an outer circular metal disk with an inner flexible rubber which is affixed to the metal during vulcanization. The bonded seal has no loose parts to allow leakage of oil or ingress of any contaminants. This kind of seal is more accurate, and can easily be fitted into a smaller space. An example is shown in Figure 2.9.
The cost of new spark plugs can range from as low as $2 to as high as $20 per plug. Cheaper spark plugs are often made of basic materials and may not last as long as more expensive options.
