A steep decline in the prices of titanium dioxide was observed in the second half of 2022 as the erratic energy costs along with rising covid cases affected the market negatively. In addition to this, the decreased offtakes from paints and coating industries, weak economic growth, and strict restrictions imposed to deal with the resurgence of covid cases further aided the declining trajectory of titanium butoxide prices.

Stability and darkening[edit]

According to the feedback of the manufacturers, the new mainstream factory has risen, and the focus of the overall market transaction has moved up. From the perspective of demand side, the current overall intention of the terminal to replenish inventory before the holiday is OK; From the supply side, some mainstream manufacturers have increased the load, and the actual output of the industry is stable. Most factories report a new price of around 17,000 yuan/ton, and some plastics and papermaking related downstream feedback some tight models are more expensive. Recent titanium dioxide raw material price trend is strong, titanium dioxide price support is more stable, comprehensive market factors, the current titanium dioxide market to maintain a price state.

So if you’re worried about titanium dioxide, don’t be! With current research and industry recommendations, titanium dioxide is a safe food additive. And if you want to avoid it, that’s ok too! Just don’t expect certain foods to be so white, smooth, and bright.

ROS were detected through the colorimetric assay employing the nitro-blue tetrazolium salt (NBT salt) by reading the absorbance of the reduced blue molecule.

Why Did Europe Ban Titanium Dioxide?

Titanium dioxide can amplify and brighten white opacity because of its exceptional light-scattering properties. In food and drugs, these properties help to define colors clearly and can prevent products from UV degradation. 

Price increases of 139-174 USD /MT were seen in Q3 by western suppliers in a tight and buoyant market that faced multiple persistent pulls on supply, including an ongoing lack of Chinese export competitiveness. Furthermore, container constraints hampered its delivery to the rest of the world.
