'Cotton tends to be the most popular material for bed sheets, boasting both durability and comfort, but there is a distinct variation in quality, so it pays to do your research,' says Wayfair's resident style Advisor, Nadia McCowan Hill.

 Bath towels are the most common type and are designed for drying off after showering or bathing. Bath towels are generally larger in size and provide ample coverage and absorbency.  Look for bath towels made from high-quality cotton as they are soft, durable, and highly absorbent.  Egyptian and Turkish cotton are popular choices for their luxurious feel and superior absorbency.

 Flannel sheets, on the other hand, are great for keeping warm during the colder months. Flannel sheets are made of cotton or wool and are known for their softness and insulation.  When choosing flannel sheets, pay attention to the weight of the fabric, as heavier weights are generally warmer and more durable.  Choose flannel sheets that weigh 5 ounces or more for a comfortable and long-lasting option.

Bamboo viscose is popular because it is soft, smooth, silky, temperature-regulating, and moisture-wicking. It is also often popularly cited as an environmentally-friendly material. This is becausebamboo is a relatively sustainable plantto grow, because it grows quickly, doesn’t require much irrigation or intense cultivation, and doesn’t require chemical pesticides or fertilizers. Bamboo also absorbs more carbon and produces more oxygen than other similar plants.

In its most basic form, microfiber is polyester woven extremely fine. Because microfiber doesn’t stain, they make great sheets for kids, if you’re eating in bed, and for those who sleep with their dog. It’s softer than polyester but less breathable than cotton making it good for cold weather.
